SOUTHVALE RULES
These are sensible launch-ready placeholder rules designed to be easy for SouthVale administration to edit. They avoid overly restrictive mechanics while establishing clear roleplay standards.
General Rules
Treat other players and staff with basic respect. Harassment, hate speech, targeted abuse, or deliberately disruptive behavior is not part of SouthVale roleplay.
Follow staff instructions during active moderation. If you disagree with a decision, use the appeal or support process afterward instead of arguing in the middle of a scene.
Do not use cheats, unauthorized software, injected menus, exploits, dupes, or bugs to gain an advantage. Report serious exploits privately to staff.
Roleplay Rules
Value believable character behavior and give other players reasonable opportunities to participate in scenes.
Remain in character during active roleplay whenever practical. Technical issues can be handled briefly and clearly without derailing the scene.
Do not force outcomes that remove another player’s ability to respond unless a supported game mechanic clearly determines the outcome.
RDM
Random Deathmatch is attacking or killing another player without a reasonable roleplay cause or sufficient interaction. Conflict should have context, escalation, and an understandable in-character reason.
VDM
Vehicle Deathmatch is intentionally using a vehicle as a weapon against players without a valid roleplay reason. Normal collisions, accidents, and clearly justified scenes are judged by context.
Metagaming
Do not use information your character could not reasonably know. This includes streams, Discord messages, OOC conversations, map information from outside the game, or knowledge from another character.
Powergaming
Do not abuse mechanics or force unrealistic actions to gain an unfair advantage. Actions should stay within believable character limits and allow reasonable counterplay.
FailRP
Avoid behavior that ignores the setting, your character’s situation, or obvious consequences. Severe injuries, arrests, threats, and dangerous situations should be treated seriously enough to support the scene.
New Life Rule
After a character is fully killed and respawns, do not immediately return to the same conflict or use exact details from the death to continue retaliation. Staff may define scene-specific exceptions.
Combat Logging
Do not disconnect to avoid an active roleplay consequence such as arrest, robbery, injury, pursuit, or confrontation. If you crash, make a reasonable effort to reconnect and resume the scene.
Exploiting
Do not intentionally abuse bugs, animation states, inventory behavior, vehicle mechanics, economy loopholes, or map issues for an advantage. Report reproducible issues instead.
Toxicity
Competitive or hostile characters are allowed; personal attacks against the player are not. Keep conflict inside the roleplay and use support channels for genuine disputes.
Police Interaction
Police scenes should involve reasonable escalation and communication. Do not repeatedly bait officers purely to start pursuits or firefights without a roleplay objective.
Officers are expected to use proportional force, follow department policy, and support investigative roleplay where practical.
Criminal Interaction
Criminal roleplay should have a purpose beyond repeatedly farming victims or forcing low-effort conflict. Robberies, gangs, heists, trafficking, and turf disputes should create scenes for everyone involved.
Crime can carry meaningful consequences. Being caught, investigated, identified, or losing assets may be part of the roleplay.
Safe Zones
If SouthVale designates safe or protected areas, do not use them to initiate violence, escape active consequences, or intentionally manipulate mechanics. Exact protected locations should be published by staff.
Character Rules
Keep separate characters meaningfully separate. Do not transfer hidden knowledge, money, assets, criminal connections, or faction information between your own characters unless an approved system permits it.
Character names and concepts should fit a modern roleplay setting and must not be designed primarily to troll, impersonate staff, or disrupt other players.
